Match Report: VCF Mestalla beat UD Alzira in preseason friendly (0-1)
Valencia CF played their eighth preseason friendly away at UD Alzira on Saturday evening. The Valencianistas visited the Suñer Picó to continue their preseason preparations ahead of the start of the competition.
Valencia CF Mestalla were off to a dominating start. Fran Navarro almost got on the end of a Xavi Estacio cross but the keeper came out and gathered it in the six yard box. As minutes ticked away the home side tried to muster a reaction but they could not find a way through a well-positioned VCF Mestalla side who tried to knock the ball around.
Carlos Pérez tried his luck from outside the box but the keeper managed to turn it away which led up to the VCF Mestalla opener. Nacho Muñoz delivered an inch perfect cross into Fran Navarro’s path who made no mistake and fired it home beyond the UD Alizira keeper minutes before the break.
UD Alzira provided an early scare rattling the woodwork through a Germán overhead kick but VCF Mestalla response did not took long through a dangerous double chance from Pablo Gozálbez.
Óscar Fernández changed personnel on the hour mark to freshen-up the team. And five minutes from full-time, impact substitute, Andrés Céspedes pulled off a brilliant diving save to stop a long range drive and produce a shutout to secure the victory for Valencia CF Mestalla.
